Universities with more than half of international students
The Macau University of Science and Technology has more than 11,000 students, and 88.3% of them are non-Macau, according to THE.
Every year, Times Higher Education (THE) requires schools to provide data on the proportion of international students in order to serve world university rankings. This year's results show that more than 20 schools have more than 50% international students.
Macau University of Science and Technology came in first with 88.3%. This is a relatively young university, founded in 2000, made up of 10 faculties including social sciences, sciences, law, management, business, medicine, pharmacy, tourism, arts, media and languages language.
The school offers instruction in multiple languages, including English, Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish; also established partnerships with more than 200 institutions in Europe, USA, Australia, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong to facilitate student and academic exchange programs.
Coming in second is the largest university based in North Cyprus - Near East University. 86% of the university's more than 20,000 students come from other countries and regions with more than 100 nationalities.
The other university in the top 3 is Jacobs University (Germany). The school is small in size with nearly 1,600 students. 78% of them are not German but come from more than 110 other countries such as India, Nepal, USA, Morocco or China.
